Q: What is the maximum distance between pipe hangers?

A: Additional valves and fittings increase the load and therefore closer hanger spacing is required. Taken from ANSI/MSS SP-58. *Many Codes and specifications require pipe hangers to be spaced every 10 ft (3.05m) regardless of size.

Q: Can you connect two waste pipes together?

A: In a waste system, your pipes will usually be connected by either push fit or solvent weld connectors. Solvent weld and push-fit pipes are slightly different, so the connectors and pipes aren't interchangeable.

Q: What is the minimum distance between pipe supports?

A: For steel pipes between 15mm and 100mm in diameter, the horizontal support spacing ranges from 1.5m to 3m, while the vertical spacing ranges from 3m to 5.5m depending on the pipe diameter. For nominal pipe sizes between 1 inch and 10 inches, the support spacing ranges from 7 feet to 22 feet.
